Wonderful news! NBC has picked up Esther’s pilot “Siberia”. It’s due to premier on July 1st at 10pm on NBC. Esther plays the role of Elsa. We don’t really know much more about this role or the pilot except for a short summary that was released in the press. What do you all think? So exciting to see Esther making it in the U.S.! She deserves nothing but success. Well done, Esther!

NBC has acquired 13-episode drama series Siberia, from Sierra/Engine Television and producer Michael Ohoven from Infinity Media. The mystery drama will premiere on July 1 and air in the Monday 10 PM slot. Siberia is set in the remote Siberian territory of Tunguska, location of the largest impact event on Earth, the massive 1908 explosion, believed to have been caused by a meteoroid or comet, which knocked down some 80 million trees over an area of 830 square miles. More than 100 years later, 16 reality-show contestants descend on Tunguska unknowing of the land’s mysterious past. When a contestant is badly injured and no help arrives the contestants realize that the strange occurrences are not part of the show. With their safety threatened, competing contestants must band together in an effort to survive. The series, said to be in the vein of The Blair Witch Project, is wrapping production. It was unveiled at the recent MIPTV by Sierra/Engine, which handles worldwide distribution. Siberia extends Sierra/Engine’s relationship with NBC as the company also distributes the network’s upcoming drama series Crossbones. “The concept of survival, when mysterious elements are at play, makes for a compelling show,” said NBC’s scheduling chief Jeff Bader. This is NBC’s third scripted series slated for summer, joining another acquired drama, Crossing Lines, as well as dramedy Camp. Siberia is an Infinity Films Production in association with Sierra/Engine Television and Welldone Productions. Executive producers are Ohoven, Slava Jakovleff and Sierra/Engine CEO Chris Philip. The series was created by Matthew Arnold.

Looks like we are ending the year on some wonderful, happy news.. Esther is set to return to Home and Away. It was confirmed yesterday that Esther will be back on the screen for a few episodes in the new year, however exact details are not known. But, seriously how exciting!

Esther Anderson is returning to film some scenes with Home and Away later this year, to air next year. Her character Charlie was a fan favourite who left the show in tragic circumstances earlier this year. Exact details of her return are kept under wraps.

“It was a shock and a surprise to get the call, but I said yes straight away; the chance to come back and work on the show was an opportunity I didn’t have to think too hard about at all! Charlie holds a very special place in my heart and I’m so grateful for the support I have received from Home and Away fans” said Esther.

Anderson said of her return: “I told my mum and dad that I was coming back, and they almost fell off their chairs. They said: ‘Hang on, didn’t Charlie die?’ “It’s hilarious, because this time 12 months ago I was keeping it the biggest secret from everyone as to whether Charlie would live or die, and now I’m in the same boat again as far as not giving anything away.”

While we can’t reveal Esther’s storyline, it will include Steve Peacocke and that wonderful Charlie/Brax chemistry.

2013 will be a fantastic year for Home and Away, stay tuned!

After a year pursuing a career in Hollywood, Geelong-born actress Esther Anderson is home for the spring races. She opens up to Miranda Luby about her career, love life and how she deals with fame. Read part of the interview below or look at the full scanned issue now available in the gallery. Gorgeous shots and a wonderful interview. Esther is such a down to earth, sweet person and this interview only proves that again.

Staring into the mirror at her latest photo shoot, Australian TV star Esther Anderson seems a littler nervous. “Do I look hippy at all?” she asks, smoothing down her dress with her hands, nose wrinkling as she squints at her reflection. “How is my hair?” At first it’s hard to take the former Home and Away star seriously. It seems impossible that the beautiful, size-right, Geelong-born actor could look anything but perfect. But as she steps in front of the camera, Esther takes a deep breath and smiles shyly and it’s suddenly clear that for the breathtaking beauty, self-confidence doesn’t come naturally.

The more time spent talking to Esther, the more she seems, well, just like any of us. She goes through tough breakups, most recently from Geelong Cats captain Joel Selwood, worries about her career path and admits she’s scared about not finding the time to be a mum. ‘Oh, I’m completely normal,” she says, opening up over a post-shoot lunch of fried calamari. “It’s actually hard because from the outside it seems like such a blessed life but I still have tough times like everyone else.”

Those tough times include her school days at Belmont High where despite being school captain, Esther admits she often felt lonely, insecure and unpopular. “I never felt like anyone liked me at school. I guess everyone had their turn of being bullied and I certainly wasn’t excluded from that,” she says. “It’s strange but that’s probably why I went for school captain. I was challenging myself by going for something I didn’t think I could do.” It was years before this “Fake-it-till-you-make-it” attitude trickled down to her passion for acting.
